There is a story of a young man and an old-timer who went sailing on the high sea. The old-timer picked up a floating leaf and asked if the young man knew anything about biology. The young man replied, “No’’, and the old-timer said, “Young man, you just lose 25% of your life!’’

The old-timer again pick up a rock, from the bottom of the boat, and with a punctilious look at the rock, he again asked the boy, if he knew anything about Geology. He answered, “No’’. Again, the old-timer replied, “you have lost another 25% of your life”.

The old-timer gazed at the sky, night fall was closing in and stars were already dotting the sky. He turned to the young man and asked, “Do you know anything about astronomy?” “No”, he replied and the old-timer said, “That makes 75% of your life that you have lost’’.

As the old-timer was delivering his verdict on the young man’s life, a great storm arose. The young man started drifting out of control. The young man turned to the old-timer and asked, if he knew how to swim. The man said, ‘’No’’. The young man said to him, “Sir, you have just lost your entire life’’ and immediately dived into the sea and swam to the shore, leaving the old-timer to his fate.

From the above story, we can see that the young man was a genius at swimming but not in biology, geology and astronomy. Also, the old-timer was a genius in biology, geology and astronomy but not in swimming.

So we all, whether white, black, yellow, coloured, educated or illiterate have equal opportunities to be a genius in life.

Genius is not only for selected breed of persons. But you and I are entitled to that label and to attain that height if we so choose.

Here is the secret: focus on any area or skill with a commitment to daily improvement and a passion for excellence and within three to five years, you will be operating at a level of competence and insight such that people will call you a genius.

So, mathematically,

Focus + Daily Improvement + Time = Genius.

Don’t try to be good at everything at the same time, rather, simply

Follow

Course

Success

Know what you are good at, and then work effortlessly to polish them one at a time. Reflect on the abilities that people admire in you, think about those abilities you see yourself exhibiting and then work harder to polish them, using the formula below:

Vision + Determination +Focus + Hard Work = Ultimate Excellence (Genius).

Where:

Vision is your target, which forms your driving force.

Determination is the seriousness over your vision

Focus talks about your commitment to seeing that your vision manifests and,

Hard work is the effort applied to bring your vision to reality.

If you apply this formula, then use this graph to check your advancement.

Beginners level —– (1 month – 9months)

Mediocrity level —- (10 months -19months)

Professional level — (20 months – 29months)

Specialist level (Genius) —– (30 months – 39 months)

Provided you make daily improvements.

The time duration may vary depending on the area or skill to learn but the levels are stable. So try to do anything long enough and you will get some depth of insight and understanding about it, then people call you a Genius (Guru).
